Body-based or energetic approaches can go into the body, but when they're not trauma-informed, they can take you beyond your capacity to integrate the work. Rather than releasing what's stored, they push your nervous system past what it can handle, leaving you more dysregulated than before.

- You cycle between "slightly better" and back to square one, and it's wearing you down
- You try harder to heal because you must not be "trying hard enough" and end up burning out
- You push through to feel normal for a while, then feel worse
- You feel shame about how little you can manage, and wonder what's wrong with you
